If your nationality is not eligible for the India eVisa, you will need to apply for a regular (sticker) visa through your nearest Indian embassy or consulate, or through a visa application centre such as VFS Global or BLS International. The regular visa requires submitting your physical passport and may take 5 to 15 business days to process.
Yes. If you hold two passports and one of them is from an eVisa-eligible country, you can apply using that passport. Your eVisa will be linked to the passport you use for the application, so you must enter India using the same passport. If either of your nationalities is on the restricted list, additional rules may apply.
The India eVisa is generally issued to holders of ordinary (regular) passports. Diplomatic and official passport holders from most countries are not eligible for the eVisa and should apply through the appropriate Indian embassy or consulate for a diplomatic or official visa.
The India eVisa is available in five categories: e-Tourist (for sightseeing, visiting family, yoga, short courses), e-Business (for meetings, trade fairs, setting up ventures), e-Medical (for treatment at Indian hospitals), e-Medical Attendant (for accompanying a medical visa holder), and e-Conference (for attending government-approved conferences). Validity options include 30 days, 1 year, and 5 years depending on the category and nationality.
It depends on the visa duration you choose. The 30-day e-Tourist visa allows double entry. The 1-year and 5-year e-Tourist visas allow multiple entries throughout the validity period. For e-Business visas, multiple entries are allowed. Each continuous stay in India cannot exceed 180 days for most nationalities (90 days for some).
No. The India eVisa is not available to anyone who currently holds or has ever held Pakistani citizenship, or whose parents or grandparents were born in or were citizens of Pakistan. This applies regardless of your current nationality. In such cases, you must apply for a regular visa through an Indian embassy or consulate.
